College is a lot of things for a lot young people. College is stressful. In this article let’s take a looks at some of the causes of college student stress and some college student stress relief.
Without a doubt college students have quite a lot going on – thousands of things both inside and outside of class. Getting enrolled, picking a major, trying to determine what they’ll be doing and preparing for post college life and a career, all the social activities and relationship trials and tribulations… college is everything including a fair amount of stress.
There is no patented solution for handling college stress, but keeping in mind a few suggestions that you can either pass along to your kids or take them with you, can certainly help a bit.
First of all, when it comes to stress – expect to encounter it. Sounds simple enough… and it really is. Don’t be so naïve to think that making your way through college is the proverbial walk in the park… not if you take your education seriously it isn’t. So… stress happens… expect it.
When you are feeling stressed out try to figure out just what it is that has you all stress out. Once you identify the source of your college campus life stress, it is much easier then to develop a plan to relieve it. Is it a class – is it one of your college professors – is it your own expectations that you haven’t met? Put your finger on the source and you’ll reduce your stress.
Don’t allow your stress to be this nebulous load on your shoulders and not know what is causing it… this is frustrating… and stressful.
Once you’ve determined a source contributor to your stress make a small change the alleviate it right away… don’t implement a drastic change… just test a small change… you might be surprised how much this will help. This small change in the direction of dealing with your stress will begin to give you the sense of more control… more control of your life relieves stress.
