College life can be very hard on one’s diet and fitness and stress thrives on poor diets and the physically inactive… all work toward you major and no play can facilitate stress… stay active and work to eat healthy.

Although it’s important to make a small or directional change right away, chances are you won’t completely and immediately relieve the cause of your stress. So, after implement your first change, find a way to take some time to distance yourself for a short period of time. Take time and plan to relax. Schedule relaxation time for yourself… time to decompress.

Take time to (regularly) do something that you enjoy doing no matter how small… make it a point to get together with friends, get out to a movie, take a walk, go fishing, whatever it is treat yourself to some ‘chill out’ time.

Come to understand that (especially with college student stress) the stress you are experiencing is probably a temporary situation… whether it is a particular class that will change with the semester, or finals that will be over soon, or even a roommate that you won’t have next year… keep things in perspective.

Life involves stress… always has always will… each time you manage, cope, or otherwise conquer your stress you’ve grown stronger against the next attack… college stress is no different… it just later evolves to adult stress, so learning how to deal with your own personal interpretations of stress is yet another life skill you can learn while at college.
