Stress Over Money – A Painful Combination

Money seems to be a reason for much of today’s stress and believe it or not, it is not just those who are doing without money who worry; even those with lots of money obsess over it too! 

Often times they are even more of a worry-wart!

Ok, so the wealthy don’t worry over making that car payment, but all too often they have investments which tank and money managers who take them for a ride. 

Too often they may even get embroiled with unscrupulous advisers which can lead to legal challenges and disaster all around. 

So as you see, wealthy or not, stress and money issues seem to go hand in hand for almost all of us. 

It seems that even a generation ago, we lived with so much less than we do know and it almost seemed as if we were happier then.  Life was so much more simple then and stress related issues seemed things that were oh so rare. 

Stress over money issues is no more a fact of life than is stress related to any other issue.  Stress occurs when you begin to feel hopeless over the money issue.  You begin to believe that there is no way out.  It is then when stress begins to set in.  But you must fight through these feelings of hopelessness.  The will to fight can often give you hope and feel less stressed about the money situation in which you find yourself. 

During times of stress, your body releases natural hormones and when you struggle with money issues and are under stress, then the mental and physical struggle that you create to push through the brick wall of money challenges can be diminished.  Pushing through instead of just accepting the stressful money situation is so much better for you.  Being passive about your situation is ridiculous and can lead to deep, dark depression as a result of chronic stress. 

Millions engage in daily practices which create excessive debt each and every year.  Credit cards are maxed out and balances creep up over and over.  Minimum monthly payments are made by using another card.  Some even use credit cards for the basics of living. 

Family disagreements over money are one of the most common causes of stress in today’s families.  Money stress can be created when one partner is a spender and one is a saver.  It is not a realistic situation and one that can not be maintained for any period of time without creating an inordinate amount of stress. 

Working together for options to reduce stress surrounding money issues should be a priority of focus of daily life.  Money and stress all too often go hand in hand.  It is time to break that marriage and come up with better stress management techniques.
